**The following is a a guest blog post I wrote for the American Democracy Project

I want to be honest with you. I believe honesty is important in regards to matters such as these, so when talking about issues such as your rights and mine, your freedoms and mine, your government...I want to be upfront and honest with you. I do so because I care about you. I genuinely care about what you have to say, how you believe the election of 2016 will favor in the odds of republican or democrat. I care about how you feel about both parties, and about women's rights, immigration laws, and the widely popular r subject of gun control. You are an individual and a human being. We are all created equal, or at least the Declaration of Independence says that at least. So it is important I treat you fairly, as an equal, even though most likely we are not.

We are probably not equal, because, in all honesty, I am not like you. I, dear friend, am without allegiance. I do not favor democrats over republicans. I do not choose Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. I am simply the watcher on the walls of men ( pardon me, a Game of Thrones reference I simply had to work in) where in which I sit idly by and await the news of the next election. I hope you do not hate me now, or find me lazy. After all, we were friends once, nearly three sentences ago. It is just that there is no place in my life for politics, nor do I do I pretend to know my way around the electoral kitchen. I am however quite mindful of the future, and of the rights of all individuals on planet earth. Perhaps when all of the child soldiers of Africa, the enslaved child prostitutes of Europe, and the oppressed peoples of North Korea are set free and made as equals, maybe, just maybe, I will cast a ballot and vote.
